They say a change is as good as a holiday, and embracing the unseasonably sunny Melbourne weather, we decided to give the shop a mini-makeover last week! So out with the red that we've had since we opened, and in with the sky-blue and white trims! We couldn't be happier with the results, and we hope you all love the fresh new look too!

In keeping with our tradition of supporting local artists and crafties, our blue window features the work of local artist Darby Hudson - we also have copies of Darby's book "Picture Songs" for sale, which make a gorgeous present for the young and the young at heart!

In our windows we also have some fresh new stock in from Rock Your Baby, Gaia Organic, Peggy, Oishi-M, Skeanie, Walnut shoes and many more!

Also, the hand-made butterfly lanterns featured in the windows are also for sale, so please feel free to contact the shop on ph: 03 9486 4200 for any enquiries, but be quick as these limited edition beauties are sure to sell out quickly!

Oh my how time flies! It doesn't feel that long ago that we were busy wrapping pressies, decorating the tree and hastily whacking that turkey in the oven! From all of us here at Hoochie Coochie we would like to wish all our lovely customers and their families a very happy Christmas and New Year and hope that you've all enjoyed a good break.

We've enjoyed a lovely break as well, but we've kept ourselves busy this last week getting ready for our big Australia Day Sale, on now over the long weekend! There are some great bargains and massive reductions on brands such as Littlehorn, Rock Your Baby, Ouch, Infancy, Snugglebum, Well Spotted, Seafolly, Alex & Charlie and much much more!

Dear friends today we are so pleased to announce the grand unveiling of our second shop right next door to Hoochie Coochie at 222 St. Georges Rd. North Fitzroy! Yep, that's right, twice as much Hoochie Coochie goodness!

Our busy worker bees have been running around like crazy for the last 3 days to get everything just right, and I think the results speak for themselves. We are all so proud of our efforts, and I do hope that you can all make it down here to have a look yourselves!

The new shop will be open just for the Christmas period so be sure to hurry on down and pick up some stocking fillers before they all sell like hotcakes!

'Tis the season

So it's hit December, the trees and decorations are going up, the cards are getting mailed and the kids can't go 5 minutes without asking "how much longer now till Santa comes mum?". And here at Hoochie Coochie we really love Christmas, and we especially love seeing the excitement and anticipation in children's eyes as they start to see Christmas decorations pop up everywhere, so much so that we've outdone ourselves this year with our special Christmas windows. There's just something so special about pulling out the coloured balls, the tinsel, a few blow-up reindeer and creating a miniature Christmas wonderland for all kids and kids-at-heart to enjoy. And this year they're chokkers full of goodies big and small, from super-cute outfits for your special little guy and gal, to hair bobbles, booties and dollies galore!

And speaking of goodies, we're very pleased to announce that we will be opening up a second shop for Christmas only right next door to Hoochie Coochie at 222 St. Georges Rd. North Fitzroy on Friday 5th of December! Yep, that's right, this friday in 4 days time! We are all so excited about opening up next door so if you're in the area please be sure to pop on in and say hello! We'll be stocking some great labels, such as Jooki, Bobble Art, Babies Only, Bambino and some fabulous new kids teepees by Alex Kids, just in time for some extra Christmas stocking fillers.

So I hope you've all been good and mailed your letters to Santa so he knows exactly where to come to get all your pressies...

Amy and Nick, the creative kids behind Minti, as well as the little brother label Little Scruff, have painted our windows with their kooky creatures for all of you lovely people to enjoy.

Originally from New Zealand, Minti and Little Scruff have decided to stay in our lovely country and I think you would all agree that we never want them to go home!

I don't know about you lovely folk, but down here at Hoochie Coochie we're loving this new change of season! Spring always makes me think of cherry blossoms, picnics at the park, and seeing what summer clothes still fit the kids... And if yours, like mine, have done some growing over the last winter, why not head on down to see us for some new threads?
We're bursting to the brim with new stock from some old favourites like Littlehorn, Monstar, Infancy, Alex and Charli and Rock Your Baby. As well as some fresh new faces from the likes of Seafolly for girls, and their boys range Tiger Joe.

We're very happy to welcome Laranjinha back into the shop with some absolutely beautiful baby basics just perfect for baby's first layette. All of Laranjinha's products are made from the softest brushed cotton, and all feature their signature classic styling. We have two new styles in stock this winter: Stripes & Polkadots and Basic White Rib. Both these styles have short-sleeve rompers, long-sleeve rompers, leggings with feet and snug beanies. Also in the Stripes & Polkadots range is the sweet little kimono-style top, as in the top and bottom pictures. We currently have in stock sizes 000 (newborn) to 6-12months. All Laranjinha products come in their own classic box, just perfect for a special gift for someone special.

Here at Hoochie Coochie we just can't get over how super funny these T's are from the amazingly talented Tony from Well Spotted. Who wouldn't laugh themselves silly if they saw a little bubba wearing a T with "Talk to my Agent" emblazoned on the front, or a cool toddler with an especially cool catch-phrase of "Far Out Brussel Sprout" on a bright green T? We certainly love to have fun here at Hoochie Coochie and what better way than with these awesome T's that Tony screenprints himself!

We've been super busy this week getting ready for lots of lovely new stock from some of our favourites Bobble Art, Tippy Toes Socks and Tiny Tribe. Our store seems to be bursting with all the new stuff so be sure to come down and check it out before it all goes too quickly!

Amongst some of our favourites are the Overnighter and Shoulder Bags from Bobble Art - perfect for that sleep-over at Nanna's or a day at kinder. And let's not forget the wonderful folks at Tippy Toes, with the classic "Kickers" and "Baby-Janes" socks that are so hugely popular, but also some new styles like "Super Softies" and "Superstars". We're also pleased to welcome Tiny Tribe back into the shop with lots of new styles for both boys and girls aged from 0000 (premmy) to size 1. Hello and welcome to Hoochie Coochie's very first blog post! I hope this is the start of a great friendship, so maybe I should tell you something about myself, just to break the ice?

After twenty fantastic and fruitful years as singers and mums, my sister Vika and I decided it was time to spend more time with our families and work on our crazy idea of owning a childrens shop. And so, in 2004 Hoochie Coochie was born, nestled in the heart of North Fitzroy Village in Melbourne, Australia. Since then, and after much hard work and love, the shop has grown alongside many of the children we have been blessed to know since they were babies. We have many loyal customers and are meeting lots of new ones everyday.

We specialise in both contemporary and classic childrenswear ranging from babies to pre-schoolers, plus funky accessories, shoes, home decor and original artwork. Many of our labels are hand-made, or Australian-produced, and each item is handpicked with our wonderful customers in mind.

Some of the labels we stock are Monstar, Mini Metalicus, Rock Your Baby, Lark, Infancy, Oobi Baby, Well Spotted, Snugglebum, Minti, Miss Buttons, Littlehorn and many many more!
